Born in 1966, Barcelona, Spain, Tatiana Sarasa studied Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona from 1988-1992, completing her education with intensive workshops at Eina ( Centro Universitario de Diseño y Arte) with lecturer artists such as Antoni Llena or Joan Hernandez Pijuan. In 1991 she cursed the first Erasmus program at the Leeds Polytechnic in Great Britain.
Tatiana Sarasa made her first solo exhibition at 3 Punts Gallery in Barcelona, then moved to Mallorca, where she had her first solo exhibitions on the Island at Institutional Art Galleries and won local art awards. Her exhibition at Lluch Fluxá Gallery, Knitting for Virginia Woolf in 2012 presented the consolidation of a body of works with more immersive installations. Her first solo show with Aba Art Gallery Ishokujuu in 2019, incorporated the use of artisanal techniques and natural materials, which expanded since then to the use of natural dyes and pigments, which are signature elements of her work nowadays.
Ranging from installations to works on paper or textile with botanical colors and pigments, Tatiana’s multidisciplinary practice explores the relationship between humans and the natural world, its beauty, abundance, fragility or decay. Embracing ideas of connectedness to a shared web of life, rather than conquering nature. She understands her art practice as a living entity itself, continually shaped by and responding to the environment and relationship with the natural elements or other living beings.
Concepts such as transformation, the interdependence of humans and nature and the equilibrium amongst them, are tangible in her works and ideas, but also in the materials she chooses to work. Matter and nature are more and more her inspiration, positioning herself as a partner of an interactive exchange of thoughts, feelings and fluctuating energy, giving shape from there to her works in an intimate, poetic way.
She also incorporates artisanal techniques to uphold craftsmanship, the wisdom of the hands and heritage. Furthermore she uses in her works mainly natural colors, creating her own paints with pigments she collects and processes herself and also natural fibres as linen, hemp or cotton, working in defense of nature, embracing a role of responsibility and attentiveness towards the earth and as reflection of our belonging to a greater cosmic order and balance.

BIOGRAFÍA DE LA ARTISTA / TATIANA SARASA
Nacida en 1966 en Barcelona, España, Tatiana Sarasa estudió Bellas Artes en la Universidad de Barcelona entre 1988 y 1992, y completó su formación con talleres intensivos en Eina (Centro Universitario de Diseño y Arte) con artistas docentes como Antoni Llena o Joan Hernández Pijuan. En 1991 participó en el primer programa Erasmus en la Universidad Politécnica de Leeds, en Gran Bretaña.
Tatiana Sarasa realizó su primera exposición individual en la Galería 3 Punts de Barcelona; posteriormente se trasladó a Mallorca, donde presentó sus primeras exposiciones individuales en la isla en galerías de arte institucionales y ganó premios de arte locales. Su exposición en la Galería Lluch Fluxá, *Knitting for Virginia Woolf*, en 2012, supuso la consolidación de una obra caracterizada por instalaciones más inmersivas. Su primera exposición individual en la Galería Aba Art Ishokujuu en 2019, incorporó también el uso de técnicas artesanales y materiales naturales, que desde entonces ha expandido con el uso de tintes y pigmentos naturales, que son ahora elementos característicos de su obra.
Desde instalaciones hasta obras sobre papel o textiles con colores y pigmentos botánicos, la práctica multidisciplinar de Tatiana explora la relación entre los seres humanos y el mundo natural, su belleza, abundancia, fragilidad o decadencia. Aboga por ideas de conexión con una red de vida compartida, en lugar de la conquista de la naturaleza. Entiende su práctica artística como una entidad viva en sí misma, continuamente moldeada por el entorno y la relación con los elementos naturales al igual que con otros seres vivos.
Conceptos como la transformación, el carácter interdependiente de los elementos naturales y el equilibrio entre ellos se hacen patentes en sus obras e ideas, pero también en los materiales que elige para trabajar. La materia y la naturaleza son, cada vez más, su fuente de inspiración, lo que la sitúa como parte de un intercambio interactivo de pensamientos, sentimientos y energía fluctuante, a partir del cual da forma a sus obras de una manera íntima y poética.
También incorpora técnicas artesanales para preservar la artesanía, la sabiduría de las manos y el patrimonio. Además, utiliza en sus obras principalmente colores naturales, creando sus propias pinturas con pigmentos que ella misma procesa, así como fibras naturales como el lino, el cáñamo o el algodón, trabajando en defensa de la naturaleza, asumiendo un papel de responsabilidad y atención hacia la tierra y como reflejo de nuestra pertenencia a un orden y equilibrio cósmicos más amplios.
