2019, installation, woolen fiber, folded paper, paper cuts from old architecture book

Exhibition history: Ishokujuu, AbaArtLab Gallery, Palma, Mallorca, 2019

This art installation explores an imaginary colonized landscape as exercise in an era of humanity, where space colonies might be essential to reduce the risk of human extinction.

While settlement in space will have to meet standards of self-sustainability, the artists uses in her fictitious constructions natural fibers as carded wool, combed wool top or folded paper constructions where 2 dimensional images of bungalows are scattered in space on different levels and heights almost isolated from each other. There seems to be no sense of community in this residential area, where each house has its own expression and presence, some more exposed and dominant , others nested in a cocoon.

Natural resources as wool are used by the artists in this installation as biomimetic architectural elements, that may constantly find its way to adapt to environmental changes, showing a deep awareness of the the ever changing forces of nature, how they affects us and might lead to creating new space colonies in the future.

The use of bungalows as the only living units in this landscape might also be key to depict what segment of society might be inhabiting future landscapes.
