Jonquets

A collaborative project where the artist Tatiana Sarasa invites people to build and to share a relationship with a textile piece created by her.

Jonquet is a hand knitted cloth, diverse, elastic, playful and unique that the artist has conceived to be worn or used as desired. Each Jonquet is numbered and may be purchased at some specific event that will be announced forehand. The narrative of this piece will be generated by two parts, the artist and the former owner or collector of a Jonquet. By creating a piece that may be worn different ways, hung in space or stretched to a certain shape, photographed or recorded, the artists is giving the owner the option to interact with it allowing a unique shared entity.

Next Jonquet event : XTANT 2022 / Art & Artisan Market / June 17th - 21st Ses Voltes / Palma / Mallorca

The name Jonquets is derived from EL JONQUET, one of the most historic quarters of the city of Palma in Mallorca and home to the artist studio. Fishermen used to live there in small humbly built houses on a hillside overlooking the seafront. The city centre of Palma was in that past surrounded by walls and from this outskirts they were free to go off to sea. Nowadays it is one of the desired neighborhoods of the city of Palma by real estate agents and home to many foreigners investors.
